Opscore Skull Mount

Updated: Dec 2, 2025

Opscore Skull Mount, Just an overview of an option if you don't want to use a helmet for your night vision. Enjoy.

hey what's up guys so today let's talk

about my ops core skull crusher right

which they actually call a skull mount

now uh as for helmets that aren't

helmets this is actually one of my

favorite ones um the other one i really

like is like a chris uh the skull cap or

night cap i think it's called and the

night cap is really like something i can

mash up and squeeze and put into a

pocket with my like 14

and uh and i like i like little skull

crushers like that that has its uses um

but if i'm looking for something more

rigid right something i want to keep in

my head for a longer period of time

this is what i'm going to go to

right so this is like the the not helmet

helmet if you want to call it that and

it works really well for holding your

night vision retention of your night

vision and then the comfort out of this

thing is very similar to my helmets

now why would i need one of these right

or why would you need one of these well

if you're just hunting and you're not

doing anything serious where you have to

have a helmet or if you're just out you

know spelunking

like batman and uh and you're just going

out and about and just enjoying your

night uh this is a great way of doing so

like walking the dogs stuff like that

because i don't have to take a whole

helmet

um also traveling so whenever i travel i

try to take something small like this or

smaller if i'm not doing a night vision

class specifically because in that class

i'll bring a helmet because i'm going to

show everybody helmet stuff um but this

is a great option for those of you that

are trying to take classes and don't

want to buy a full helmet or have no use

for an actual helmet in the long run

so what you'll find is uh this little

skull crusher it's it's a little over a

pound you can look at the specifics on

the on the website

um on gentex's website

but opt core makes a solid solid gold

crusher the older style like uh gi

versions or the ones that came with the

pvs14s back in the day i never actually

wore one um they just looked

uncomfortable every time i looked like

looked at somebody with them on i never

needed them because i had helmet um but

i could see the use of having something

that's not helmet oriented for like

surveillance or just reconnaissance work

or something that you're you've got to

travel lighter with

um

the the newer styles like this one or

like i said the the uh the cry night cap

is one of my other favorites um the cry

knight cap i can't keep on my head for a

very long time it just it it wears me

down and you have to strap the little

the chin strap at least i do uh to keep

it down on me

um with the ops core one you still have

some form of ops core little rails on

here so you can see the theorem uh very

arc on here uh it it still works in that

manner or you could actually put

um the uh the attachment points for the

amps right there their ops core amps for

ear pro

which is kind of cool

when i use these i usually just use the

little electronic autos um your pro for

my ears just to keep it nice and slim

lined because i'm trying to go more

comfortable or at least a little bit

more

lightweight

most of the mounts should work i know

the uh wilcox g24 and g22 work i know

the narotos invg and the narotos lowstow

work in on this

system at least the ones i have so you

may want to double check if you have

like an off brand or just another brand

of uh of mount for your night vision

um whenever i use duals i use their

counterweight system uh they didn't come

with it unfortunately so you have to buy

it but it comes with a heavy and kind of

like a medium weight so it's kind of

nice and you can stack them on top of

each other i'm pretty sure uh but don't

quote me on that one and then what's

really cool about these right is that

you have a lot of adjustment so up top

you have one for the the width of your

head

right you have one for the length of

your head so you can you can like from

front to back

and then you have one for the actual uh

attachment to the back of your skull

like we're used to on most helmets so

kind of cool

um as you can see there is a way of

mounting the nerd on here um so i have

it routed it routes underneath the top

pad because there's velcro under there

so that's how i go ahead and attach it

on there it's a it's a really good

method on how to attach it and then i

route it out the back end and that's

where it ends up over on this side so

just another way of attaching the nerd

once again like the versatility of this

little thing it it surprises me every

day because i find new ways but uh but

it's just another way of of keeping

retention on your night vision here

um it does come with the bungees for

anti anti-rattle

uh that are on the shroud so that's kind

of nice

i don't use those for retention

personally but i use my nerd um but they

do work they do they do a good job at

keeping it from rattling around or your

night vision from rattling around or

that that wobble that's happening with

some of them uh when you don't use a

nerd or something like that

so pretty cool setup i i like it um

definitely one of the things i'll use

for like driving under night vision when

i don't need a helmet like inside of a

vehicle um so

something i i'm i'm pretty happy with

so if you guys have questions about it

go and put them below i'll try and

answer um but it's nothing fancy it's

just a not helmet kind of helmet it's

like the best in between i've found so

take care guys hope this helps
