The Magpod

Updated: Dec 2, 2025

The Magpod is a replacement base pad for the Magpul PMAG gen 2 or 3

hey what's up guys so today let's

actually do a little bit of uh I guess a

little little test

um mainly for myself but I figured I

could film it in uh three different

spots and actually uh

have you guys learn from it too so uh

what we're going to do is I wanted to

see how much

a magpod right actually helps in

supporting the gun now as we can see if

we're going to use a MAG we'll be on the

deck with like just a small corner

um versus on our magpod which pretty

much like acts as a boot so it also has

a little rubbery foot at the bottom

which is kind of useful especially on

concrete so I just wanted to see it like

one you guys seeing it through the

shooter

um two seeing the actual Target which is

always a good result thing but I want

you guys to see through the scope as

well so today

I'm using uh the Steiner 106 and in the

Steiner one or on the one one to six I

have a trigger cam this trigger cam

will hopefully depict what I'm actually

seeing it's through the optic and give

you guys just an idea now is this uh

perfect absolutely not it is not

scientific in any way all I'm doing is

shooting and you guys are watching

that's it so let's see how it kind of

shakes out

so let's see can you guys see the mag

all right

foreign

so without the magpod

there's definitely a little left

it's definitely a little low

and that was a little slightly left of

Bullseye all right so

same ammo

different Target now I'm going to go for

that right one compared to that left one

that I was just shooting and this time

on the magpod so you guys can watch it

uh kind of see and like I said

it's just me shooting so going through

it again

nice and easy

foreign

[Music]

all right

let's go check them out

foreign

so definitely not the most stable of

platforms being on just a MAG in general

but if if we can get more stable on just

the mag and it just has to do with a

small piece of equipment

um no I think that's that's kind of

worth it um I've always been a fan of

the magpods because they do add a little

bit of texture flatten it out and

different things like that so we'll see

we'll see how it shakes out so I'm

walking down 100 meters or 100 yards and

um

I'm going to check these groups out

see how we do

so uh this is like where I would fast

forward but

you know what if I give you guys a

nugget and you fast forward it through

this

you know like

you know what if what if something

awesome happens

okay

looking at the groups

let me actually flip the camera so I can

see looking at the groups this is on the

left side

that one's on the right side left side

was mag unsupported

or without a magpod and then PMAG with a

magpod now I told you guys I had

definitely called a low left one over

here I felt it uh pretty heavily and on

this one I felt a really bad shanky

shank so let's mix the bad ones out of

the situation and we look at these group

sizes and we're looking at like maybe

two two and a quarter two and a half to

just under two inches give or take my

finger ruler which approximately an inch

per piece of my finger here but

if we look at it like just just looking

at this with the B8 right that's on

there uh you guys can see it's

significantly different

um in certain spots right there's a

little bit of up and Downing for me over

here which could equate to some of my

breathing stuff same here but you can

also see how much instability I was

having

um and hopefully you can see that in the

reticle from the trigger cam as well so

really just I mean it's just for Arch

knowledge and for you to go out and

shoot stuff that you're testing out or

that you think is going to be a benefit

to you right borrow it from a friend

maybe shoot it a bit with something that

you know is shooting well now

here's the uh the zero confirmation of

this actual these this actual optic with

this ammo so it is shooting pretty good

I'm just getting unstable or have some

instability based off the magazine so

nothing bad in my opinion like these are

all good good groups in the grand scheme

of things off a MAG at 100 yards but if

I could get better right which I am

getting better with the magpod all right

I'm giving myself if even counting my

shitty shot still under a two inch group

um that's not bad in my opinion right

and that's my 11.5

um uh prototype that that was

essentially my prototype barrel with my

prototype

rifle that that should be coming out

from Cobalt kinetics hopefully soon so

just just some some sample sizes guys

like I said nothing fancy nothing crazy

when it comes to it but uh but hopefully

it depicts a little bit for you guys and

uh and hope your own

um decision based off of what you're

seeing on your own shooting not my

shooting because my shooting's mine

right my mistakes are mine my good ones

are mine your mistakes and your good

ones are yours so just figure it out

it's worth a try give yourself a little

bit of a test like that it's nothing

crazy you just have to swap mags so it

ain't nothing but a thing and uh and if

it helps why not
