My Sig MPXSD and how I have it setup
all right hey what's up guys so today
0:11
let's talk about the MPX now the MPX uh
0:14
for me personally has been a phenomenal
0:16
firearm so it shoots when I want it to
0:18
shoot it doesn't shoot when I don't want
0:20
it to shoot Sig
0:22
joke here I come here I come oh uh and
0:26
it does uh different things that I
0:29
personally wanted right which is a small
0:31
platform kind of thing but also not
0:33
super small so just like the same
0:36
concept as uh I'm not a really I'm not
0:38
into like Sub Compact guns uh I also am
0:42
not really into Sub Compact pcc's uh not
0:46
to say that they're not useful they
0:47
absolutely are and if I found myself
0:49
needing one it would be nice to have one
0:51
but as for like my normal day-to-day or
0:54
training practice or just personal
0:57
defense whatever it is um I I prefer
1:00
larger Firearms or larger in the
1:03
category where I can fit more things on
1:05
it and I can actually do a lot with it
1:07
so where I can put lasers lights things
1:11
like that that won't be like weird so if
1:12
you've ever tried to put like a laser
1:14
and a light on a tp9 uh you know my uh
1:17
or or you know what I'm talking about
1:19
the same with like an MP5 uh or anything
1:22
smaller even so you you look at like
1:24
some of those sub guns or pcc's and
1:26
you're like man that's uh that's a
1:28
little rough so when the the Scorpion
1:33
came out like uh the V2 I think it was
1:36
when MPX came out when um I think the
1:39
apc9 was around that same area era if
1:42
I'm not mistaken don't quote me on it
1:44
but when all those came out I started
1:46
looking at them as options and I kind of
1:49
fell into the MPX pretty quick because I
1:52
borrowed one and found that it was
1:54
really useful mainly because it it had
1:56
like AR style controls that I can
1:59
actually practice the same exact
2:01
manipulation stuff that I would be
2:02
practicing with an AR um although the
2:05
magazines were a little different right
2:07
the 30 rounders are a little bit longer
2:09
but different sizes but they still go
2:11
into a MAG well and they still do all
2:12
the same things that a MAG does uh
2:15
happily it wasn't something that ran off
2:17
of Glock mags which uh there's it's
2:19
problematic when it comes to a PCC or an
2:21
ar9 or something like that so it's just
2:23
something to think about
2:25
but overall my MPX has gone through some
2:28
phases so it started out as a Gen 2 8 in
2:32
so if you don't know the 8 in uh version
2:35
of these uh they were actually really
2:37
good uh the only downside was some
2:39
barrels were good and some barrels were
2:40
like Gaga so my Barrel ended up being
2:43
really good when it wasn't suppressed
2:46
the second I threw a suppressor on there
2:47
she shot like 8 in groups at 25 yards
2:50
I'm like what is this so uh a lot of
2:53
times I shot it unsuppressed which not a
2:55
big deal but it's not what I wanted it
2:57
for I wanted it to be a nice suppressed
3:00
like PCC or subgun and what I was
3:04
looking for was something I could
3:05
practice in some certain ranges that
3:07
offer only pistol Bays this is a pistol
3:10
so I can kind of play around in that
3:12
pistol calibers and also kind of play
3:14
around with uh practicing for rifle
3:16
stuff as well so I can do all the same
3:18
relatively same things uh as I I
3:21
progressed further I was like man I want
3:23
to suppress it and what I found was I
3:27
can swap a barrel and put the MP5 SD can
3:32
that B&T makes I know that was a lot of
3:34
acronyms but hopefully you followed uh
3:37
on this thing and I can suppress it so
3:39
that it is an SD style or uh essentially
3:45
a fully suppressed Barrel if that makes
3:47
sense so there there is no section on
3:50
this Barrel it bumps up almost to the
3:52
gas uh adjustment on the MPX that's
3:56
where the can stops back here so it's a
3:58
very long can it's shrouds over the
4:01
actual barrel and I'll try and put some
4:03
pictures of what it looks like up here
4:05
um but the the can goes all the way on
4:08
and it makes this thing super quiet um
4:12
to the point that uh even 115 grain
4:15
coming out of this thing uh comes out
4:17
subsonic it's really cool so I'll try
4:20
and get some pictures of my Chrono uh or
4:22
a video of my Chrono shooting by it so
4:24
you guys can see some some chronographed
4:26
ammo and and see how quiet this thing is
4:29
actually going uh it's it's stupid quiet
4:32
on the video it probably sounds exactly
4:35
like it sounds in real life it's kind of
4:37
cool so because it is an SD style can or
4:41
setup um it does weigh a little bit more
4:44
obviously because I can is larger but
4:48
I'll take that weight any day for what
4:50
it offers so we're going to go tabletop
4:52
and I'll go through uh head to toe or
4:55
tip to butt or whatever on this thing
4:57
and kind of give you guys an overview of
4:59
what it looks like and hopefully you'll
5:01
see some uh clips of me shooting it in
5:03
between and help you guys
5:25
out all right guys so let's talk about
5:28
the MPX now uh from head to toe or tip
5:31
to butt or whatever you want to call it
5:33
um it's uh honestly not that intricate
5:36
or crazy so if we go to uh the front of
5:40
the gun right we're using an MP5 SD
5:43
style can so this one is made by BNT and
5:46
it's kind of blocked here the
5:47
nomenclature but it is a B&T can that
5:51
they made for the mp5s MP5 SDS this is
5:55
the compact so there is a longer one I
5:58
went for compact one although compact
6:01
meaning it's still like 12 in it's
6:03
humongous so um it it is what it is I I
6:07
wanted something smaller so I went with
6:08
something smaller now on top of that I
6:11
also uh had to use the barrel the barrel
6:13
is from uh uh what is it in Le We Trust
6:18
is the company that makes it uh they
6:20
make fantastic barrels uh I heard so and
6:23
so far I've been pretty happy with the
6:25
barrel and it does really well uh they
6:27
do make regular barrels so if that's
6:29
something you're looking for or a 22
6:31
conversion barrel for the MPX so kind of
6:33
cool they have like other options for
6:35
you so if you wanted to build an upper
6:37
to do multiple things or multiple
6:40
calibers you can or multiple elers for
6:43
different calibers you can so from there
6:46
um I do have a QD on here which is rare
6:49
for me to have a QD in the front but it
6:51
is something I wanted uh I'm using a
6:54
rail scales one uh rail scales makes a
6:56
couple different types of qts this is
6:58
one of the ones that goes in line
7:00
so it's straight I kind of like this one
7:02
I do have a weird QD here that I found
7:04
just lying around and she is longer than
7:07
the actual rail skills QD it's
7:09
interesting so oh now she's not
7:13
hooking all right so I may have broken
7:18
it there we go so it is a little bit
7:22
longer and it kind of is a little Shifty
7:23
I have one on on order but uh but we'll
7:26
see right like things things uh
7:28
disappear here here so uh going from
7:31
there I do
7:33
have the uh Aeros Saka laser on here I
7:36
really like this laser for something
7:38
like this it is absolutely perfect um
7:40
it's not too bright like some people
7:42
have said uh it has a great viz laser so
7:46
on viz switch it over to viz when it's
7:49
on viz it has a really bright G viz
7:52
laser for what it is uh it also has
7:55
three other modes which is laser only
7:58
illuminator only and then laser an
8:00
Illuminator it's super simple so very
8:03
nice it's got a great freaking button I
8:06
don't know if you guys can hear that
8:07
really good button um and then the
8:09
Illuminator has a little diffuser on it
8:12
which is really helpful and under nods
8:15
this is a great great little setup for a
8:17
PCC in my opinion um it doesn't match up
8:19
to like some of the full power stuff I
8:20
use on a normal basis but it is really
8:22
good still um but so decent laser one
8:26
day I'll go a little bit more in depth
8:27
on it and you'll uh you'll get a flavor
8:29
on that one so then next to it I have a
8:31
little modl it's also on an Aeros Saka
8:34
Mount so it is nothing really wild it's
8:38
actually one of my older mod lights I
8:39
think this is actually an okw so it's
8:42
not even a plhv2 um but it's still a
8:44
great modl it's been on this MPX since
8:47
I've had it so it it has not uh it's not
8:50
been moved or removed so really good
8:53
Obviously good light so it's on here
8:55
plays the game I also have one of the
8:57
Legacy mod buttons which are metal uh
9:01
one of the ones they made out of
9:02
aluminum back in the day or not back in
9:04
the day but before they had the plastic
9:05
ones or the polymer ones and I actually
9:08
use it to bridge the rail and the upper
9:13
so on an MPX if you didn't know this
9:15
upper uh comes all the way out to where
9:17
you see that seam hopefully you can see
9:19
that seam if you can't so there's a seam
9:21
here and then the rail is the rest of
9:24
that and it cups around the upper over
9:26
here and then the the Tak down pivot pin
9:28
here that's what actually goes through
9:30
the upper the rail and everything and
9:33
tries to keep it in place the downside
9:35
to that is that it's really wobbly so to
9:37
keep it from wobbling and you can see
9:39
it's super sturdy at this point uh I use
9:43
a metal mod button to hold that bad boy
9:45
on there or together I know it's not
9:48
like the best thing in the world but I'm
9:49
not using this to um shoot very far so
9:53
it kind of works out nicely I'm still
9:55
able to shoot 100 yards with this thing
9:56
pretty easily um and I have quite quite
9:59
often so it's actually still usable but
10:02
it's not something that I'm I'm worried
10:04
about too much um but that is one of the
10:07
things that I've done to kind of rep or
10:09
to help myself with this another option
10:11
with an MPX is to use a diving board and
10:14
use your laser in the rear uh but making
10:17
sure that you set your buttons up so
10:18
they're not blocking your lasers or
10:19
illuminators or something like that so
10:21
just another option that's something you
10:22
can do with an MPX that's probably why
10:24
most of those diving boards came out was
10:25
for that for that problem so going from
10:28
there
10:30
right uh I have not changed anything to
10:31
the bolt it is exactly how it was uh
10:34
like I said the barrel was really easy
10:36
to swap out if you've never done a
10:37
barrel swap on an MPX uh once you take
10:40
the rail off there's two bolts and you
10:42
unscrew them you pop the the actual bolt
10:46
or the the entire uh Barrel out and you
10:49
pop the new Barrel on you put the two
10:50
bolts in and you're done so it's
10:52
actually really really simple and uh and
10:55
made for an easy swap then from there
10:58
like I said all this is pretty much the
11:00
same as it was from
11:01
Factory uh so from the Gen 2 style uh
11:06
npxs uh minus the grip I swap the grip
11:09
out to a B5 I rather the B5 angle and
11:12
the feeli to it uh I don't like the the
11:15
one that I came with it was a little too
11:17
angular for me I'm not down with that uh
11:20
and so I swapped that out and then my uh
11:23
T1 that's up top it it is on a scaler
11:26
works Mount so nothing too wild there
11:29
it's a 1 193 I believe uh just because I
11:32
do lose some height over here when I put
11:34
my cheek on it so I actually want to
11:36
make it a 13 cuz it is a little bit
11:38
higher than I'd like at the moment so
11:40
I'll probably shrink it down a little
11:42
bit more and bring it back down to 1.7
11:44
but we'll see and then uh I did change
11:47
the charging handle to one of the ones
11:49
from uh radian I prefer the radian
11:51
charging handle than the stock one the
11:53
stock one was absolute trash so I would
11:55
definitely change that out if you were
11:57
playing with an MPX and then lastly I do
12:00
have the
12:01
collapsible uh stock that goes in and
12:03
out uh I forget what they call it or
12:05
brace really which I actually prefer in
12:09
the sense of like shooting with it I
12:11
don't like the folding ones the folding
12:13
ones uh come loose while I'm shooting
12:15
and I have collapsed them while shooting
12:17
uh so I had a bad bad luck with it so I
12:20
didn't really trust it enough to keep it
12:22
on there so I swapped over to something
12:23
like this uh eventually when I do spr
12:26
this if I do I'll put a real stock on it
12:29
and uh and get a little bit more length
12:30
out of it cuz I feel like this is a
12:32
little bit too short the only downside I
12:35
see to this other than it being short is
12:36
that it wobbles just a little bit so I
12:40
dislike that and I would like if
12:43
somebody has a fix for that put it in
12:45
the comments man and then lastly uh to
12:48
connect my sling I use this little QD
12:50
guy that's on 550 cord right you can
12:53
make these yourself if you find a QD cup
12:55
that has a uh lanyard hole on it and 550
12:59
cord uh I believe Colac makes a couple
13:02
of these or they make them so you can
13:05
buy them from them as well but when I
13:06
saw them on their website I was like oh
13:09
I think I could buy though or I think I
13:10
can make that so found it made it uh and
13:13
then the sling I use on this just like
13:15
most of my uh Firearms is going to be a
13:18
Frank Proctor uh shooting sling so Frank
13:21
Proctor has been a friend of mine for
13:23
such a long time and uh before it was
13:26
Frank Proctor shooting it was way of the
13:28
gun I worked for him from for a little
13:29
bit and I love the guy to death he's
13:31
he's such an awesome dude but he made an
13:33
awesome sling that I just can't uh not
13:36
love or use now the last thing I wanted
13:40
to talk about was the mags so with MPX
13:43
or MPX mags they are a little bit more
13:46
they're pricey just like any uh subgun
13:49
mag but they do have a limiter that's on
13:52
the inside to stop you at 20 rounds with
13:55
the short ones and 30 rounds with the
13:56
long ones that limiter there's a mod
13:59
ification and I think I did a video on
14:00
it a long time ago to pull the base pad
14:03
out pull out the spring and all that
14:04
jazz the follower that's in there or not
14:06
the follower but that base pad has this
14:08
like a long piece there that you can cut
14:11
right off and uh I've had all my mags
14:15
except for this one done uh because this
14:18
one's slightly newer and I haven't
14:20
gotten to it but the other ones have
14:22
been uh cut off and added another four
14:25
or five rounds to my magazines and with
14:29
without having to do anything fancy
14:30
other than cut that piece and uh they
14:33
have been reliable they have been
14:35
locking the bolt back all these years so
14:37
I am all for that modification for the
14:39
magazines it has done nothing but
14:42
brought more bullets to my mags it's
14:44
kind of nice so this one will get that
14:46
magazine uh uh modification soon and I
14:50
may be able to show you
14:52
guys with a flashlight what I'm talking
14:54
about see if it'll show through here
14:57
poow all right I if you guys can see
14:59
that little post that's going through
15:01
the light there right like the the one
15:03
that the light's not going through that
15:05
post is literally stopping the follower
15:07
at the top and it's just this little
15:09
limiter post that you cut cut kind of
15:12
cut off so just something to think about
15:14
um if you guys wanted to modify your
15:16
mags to give yourselves more ammo so
15:19
that's my MPX guys um honestly I
15:23
couldn't be happier with the SD style
15:26
modification to it and if you were for
15:29
that kind of modification or buying a
15:31
new can and obviously you can't shoot it
15:34
without the can so you're kind of like
15:35
married to it unless you buy another
15:37
upper and build an upper with this which
15:39
is an option and I I don't see that as a
15:41
bad option uh just more
15:44
pricey but between the barrel and the
15:46
can I think it was maybe 1,500 bucks or
15:50
a little bit less uh to make this thing
15:52
an SD and ridiculously quiet and um if
15:56
you look at the before and after
15:57
pictures I'll put up for you guys
15:59
how I had it with a silencer Co Omega 9k
16:02
and an 8 in Barrel it I lost a couple
16:05
inches off the end uh so it shrunk it
16:09
and it also made it more quiet so hope
16:12
this helps guys for those of you that
16:13
had questions on it and wanted to know
16:15
more and uh if you have more more
16:17
questions or any any additions that I
16:19
should add to this thing put it below
16:21
for me so I can uh check it out and see
16:23
if it's worth my time I appreciate it
16:25
boys take care
