Night Ops Summit Recap

Updated: Dec 2, 2025

What is night ops summit (NOS) and what it was like for the first event. This is a recap from my perspective.

hey what's up guys so today let's talk

about the night Ops Summit now I wanted

to do a an AR on it or an after action

report on it based off of being a

teacher there and not a student so you

may you may watch or hear about or read

about different aars from student

perspectives but I thought it would be

kind of cool to get an instructor's

point of view or really just my

perspective on how it went what what was

uh some Goods some bads and things like

that so first off the night op Summit

was run by Greenline tactical if you

don't know who Green Line tactical is I

highly recommend looking them up Don

Edwards and his crew of Misfits are

fantastic and I thoroughly love hanging

out with them they're all good friends

of mine some of them I served with which

is cool and and the majority are just

well all all of them are just good human

beings that want to continue educating

the world on night vision and other

things as well

so the night Ops Summit was a

conglomeration of consecutive nights we

did three consecutive nights of learning

and one with with more of like a

camaraderie kind of thing of learning

and all of them included night vision or

white light oriented stuff or a mixture

really so both using night vision and

white light is very hard for a lot of

people to get time on because they don't

they don't have a range nearby that they

can shoot with or they just don't have

time to go out at night when they have

families they have to take care of and

especially after work and things like

that so don dreamed this thing up a few

years back and it was like we're gonna

do this thing and I was like sweet and

uh and once he told me some dates and he

got it all squared away it was really

cool so as a teacher it was very simple

for me I I essentially just needed to

give him my availability what I wanted

to teach for three straight nights and

then from there it went it went from

there so uh

it was actually really really easy for

me as not green line tactical so for Don

and them though they worked really hard

on the background really making sure the

website had everything they needed

getting all the logistics done there's a

lot of stuff that goes into a big event

like that or shooter Symposium or

something like that so there's a lot of

uh leg work that was done by then that I

didn't get to see because I was a guest

instructor so

going through there from from that point

um driving up there Wednesday the event

started Thursday so drove up there

Wednesday with them stopped in

Jacksonville from South Florida about

five hour drive and when it had packed

up an entire trailer of Steel stands

targets all sorts of stuff that thing

was weighed down and uh and definitely

limited the gas mileage on one of the

trucks that we were driving but between

Don's truck one of the other students or

I'm sorry two other of of the helpers or

background Logistics Peeps and Sam which

was one of the other instructors and

myself we packed five vehicles worth of

shenanigans to to come up there Target

wise

tents chairs tables things like that so

we get up there and we went up to GTI

which is government training institute

in South Carolina it was actually a

really cool facility just a little spare

right if you've ever been there it's

it's kind of cool it's a former like

power plant or nuclear power plant

something like that

um

so it's really industrial looking kind

of kind of cool seeing uh seeing it

everybody got radiation probably

um but while we're there we uh we scoped

out the place we had six different

ranges going on at the same time and we

had to scope out the long range which

went pretty far but we only stretched

out to 700 yards then we had a

uh two little Bays that were kind of

side by side that were done for like

they they had a side berm and a front

berm so I was using one of those because

I like to use uh multiple angles and

widen things out a lot

um and then we had two other Bays that

were like smaller

um smaller more pistol style uh areas

that we could shoot and then lastly we

had one that was a 370 yard

rifle range that night or right night

Rifleman was done on and really really

cool range setup and we had a lot of

little things going on

um

uh let's see dinner was served every

night it was more like a linner so like

just between dinner and lunch or like a

like an early white people dinner or

something like that and uh and what we

did was uh that was catered every day so

students got to eat something prior to

that right well let's start with the

morning so every morning at 10 A.M we

had a Shooter's brief or safety brief

that went on

really fun we all laughed and joked got

together right by the big vendor tent

which was really cool having a ton of

vendors there and not just like you know

Joe schmo's knife making company or

whatever but like big boys like you know

tnvc be Myers

um we had

Firearms Depot you had Roscoe was there

Cobalt was there Cobalt kinetics a bunch

of other other peeps that I'm sure that

I'm forgetting or whatever but

we had a lot of fun like there's a tent

set up so people can buy things right

away and there's a lot of discounted

stuff it was really cool and then I'm

sorry Blue Force Gear too

um and then from there we did a

Shooter's brief it was nice and and fun

we laughed joked gave out pertinent

information timelines and stuff like

that students that registered they got

these Badges and on the back there was a

QR code that all the students got to uh

you know utilize for more information or

background information schedules stuff

like that where the ranges were with a

map and

it was really well organized it was it

was really well done

um

right after that around 11 we started

doing these like what were considered

like professional TED talks and uh and

the first day Sam did some form of uh

night uh talking about intense fire

tubes and different specs that have to

go with them and things to look for

things that you were like all the

different little things that go into uh

choosing specs or looking at specs more

more intently for Consumer and then also

the the second day right the Ted Talk

was from Eric Vargas if you don't know

Eric Vargas is he's one of the green

line tactical instructors uh also he

served with me in third ranger battalion

at the same time in the same company it

was kind of cool but he went on to going

into snipers and going other things and

um and now he's a you know a worldwide

or

but he world-class shooter when it comes

to precision rifle stuff he's won I

don't know how many competitions at this

point and he shoots very well when it

comes to long range shooting

um I needless to say he was the long

range night vision instructor for that

for the classes that were going on

um

so Eric did one on ballistics talk about

ballistics and how ballistics are

affected by different atmospherics and

things like that it was solid really

cool stuff to to see and have people

like get get a little introduction on

especially if they have no idea there

were a lot of people that were there

that were like yeah I don't shoot past

100 yards and got exposed to that quite

quickly so it was really fun

um and then the third day was mine and I

did mine on on Behavioral Science when

fighting human beings in close confined

spaces and stuff like that which was

educational more than anything it didn't

have to do with night vision per se but

uh obviously it applies as well when you

fight human beings

um so we had a lot of fun a lot of

information during the day then dinner

came or linner and then we went right

into classes starting at five and

classes were you know I taught night

vision the first night night vision one

a condensed version for one day or one

night then I did a low light mechanics

which was the all my white light stuff

Rifle and Pistol stuff and the third

night was what I consider like almost

like a drills day I did a night vision

version of on the on the Move drills

and really getting people confirmed or

understanding the process to moving and

shooting a little better and then

getting comfortable with it which is

really fun and especially under night

vision some of them use white lights

some use the pistols some used rifles it

was a lot of fun we had we had a good

time and uh and although the weather was

cold for the first night in the last

night like frost on the on the ground

and on people's night vision and stuff

it was still a really good time and we

we all had fun so as a teacher all three

nights went really really well I got

everything I needed as a teacher for for

being somebody that wasn't part of the

logistics process and hey this is what I

need it went really good

um

the one thing that was kind of a hassle

and on Wednesday when we got there we

didn't have stands so obviously we had

to go get wood and all the instructors

literally were chopping wood and

Drilling and making stands and cutting

the sticks so that we had Target stands

and sticks to put backers on and stuff

so if you didn't know that about the

event if you went yeah we made all those

that's why they didn't work really well

um but but we we made all those they

went really good for the most part and

um

from there we went on to the the classes

at least on my perspective each class

that I had went really well I didn't

have any crazy violations of safety or

anything that that had to do with you

know uh any injuries or anything like

that which is solid

um and what was cool was I had

a good amount of dudes that knew what

they were doing for the most part so

applying their skills and enhancing

their skills which is what I try to do

with any class was wasn't hard in any

way it was really good and any any of

the problem children really which aren't

problem children they're just challenges

for me to teach with right like learn

how to teach better those guys really

got more out of it because well

everybody got more out of it because we

sat there and we learned little

intricate things or lessons that were

involving what they needed which was

really cool so we we had a really good

event overall and as a teacher each

night was solid we had our little

instructor meetings afterwards and kind

of went over everything got to bed by 2

A.M and then got up at eightish and

started it all over again and it was it

was very long days and very short nights

um sleeping but it was well worth it and

we all lodged on the actual uh facility

they have lodging there so it was really

good I think overall like if you guys

missed out on the event sorry but next

year it's still going to be a capped

amount of students for the event so I

would say the second you see it pop up

hop in it man uh you guys missed out on

a lot of good stuff and just overall

just a good time and laugh lots of

laughs man lots of good jokes and just a

good like good camaraderie which is a

lot of fun so if you want like a like a

boys weekend with your friends this may

be the event to kind of go to because

like you can camp out you can get a

hotel you can just Lodge on on site or

an animal and every morning you guys get

to hang out with everybody at the same

time and all the instructors were just

like walking around chilling with

everyone having a good time so

um any extra questions or concerns or

anything really that you just wanted to

do that it was available which was

really fun

um every day there were also little

competitions you can go head to head on

a steel match uh against one of your

buddies and you put five dollars in they

put five dollars in and whoever won got

their five dollars back but the other

five dollars went to uh the sock F fund

um which is really awesome like having

having to be uh able to donate to that

fund uh every year like most of us

donate a little bit of money to it this

year we got to donate over eight

thousand dollars to it

um with Firearms Depot matching anything

we made on the Range which was really

cool so thank you for everybody like

actually put in money into that and also

came over and competed to continue

making money and bragging rights to your

buddies so it was a good time guys so

hopefully hopefully everybody enjoyed

the the actual little brief of this I

know I jumped around a little bit but

that's welcome to my brain

um but if you guys want to know more

about the night vision Summit um or

night Ops Summit uh go ahead and make

sure you guys go to the Greenline

tactical.com go check out their website

there's a link from my website to there

so if you know my website you can get

there too and hopefully the dates will

be up for next year soon so that you

guys can actually come out and have fun

too so take care
